5 Quick Tips on How to Close Pores After Waxing
We all experience enlarged and open pores after any waxing session. Whether it’s our face, legs, or even after a Brazilian wax. But to achieve that flawless smooth skin we need those pores to be non-existent.
Here I will share with you the most effective ways I, myself use to shrink and close those pores after every waxing session.
1 – Keep Your Pores Clean
Keeping our pores clean from sebum oils, dead skin cells, and impurities is the first important step in minimizing them. As cleaned pores are hard to detect which makes it easier for them to shrink faster.
Using a well-formulated Clay Mask such as Kiehl’s Cleansing Masque can visibly minimize the appearance of your pores almost instantly. This mask is formulated to actively lift and draw out sebum oil, debris, and dead cells from your pores, and contains soothing benefits that calm post-wax hyperpigmentation. And can be picked up right from Amazon
My personal favorite because of my sensitive skin is the Paulas Choice-2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant. This gives me a thorough cleanse without leaving my skin extra dry. It does not cause irritation and is perfect for use until 2-3 days after waxing your face. (I also use this under my arms as it helps me to prevent ingrown hair and underarm pimples).
However, after waxing cleaned pores will eventually shrink and return to their original size in just 2-3 days after your waxing session.
2 – Icing Method
Icing your face is one of the most effective at-home methods to shrink large pores (pores must be cleaned before). As heat expands our pores it’s only logical that cold contracts them, leaving them almost non-existent.
Icing your face not only helps with minimizing your pores but also reduces hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. I have included a video so you can give a correct step-by-step guide to it.
3 – Use Pore Reducing Toners
After cleansing your pores you can apply a pore-reducing toner that is sensitive enough for waxed skin. The Paula’s Choice Pore-Reducing Toner works well on different skin types and is non-comedogenic, making it perfect for waxed skin (to use after 2-3 days).
It contains Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid & Chamomile which help to calm and reduce post-hyperpigmentation in the area as well. You can click here to read more about its formulation and honest reviews from Amazon.
4 – Moisturize and Hydrate Your Skin/ Waxed Areas
After waxing our skin is stripped of its moisture and water content. when our skin becomes extra dry, eventually it will begin to produce an excessive amount of sebum oil (oily skin type) which causes pores to become clogged and more visible, leaving no place for shrinkage naturally.
So this is why it’s important to invest your time in proper aftercare. I recommend only using products that are non-comedogenic as these formulations do not clog your opened pore and keep them from shrinking.
I’m sure you have heard of the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion by now. This light weighted moisturizing lotion is perfected for waxed sensitive areas with largened pores. Its formulation literally melts in your skin and is non-comedogenic. You can get this in any store/pharmacy or Click here to see its price on Amazon.
5 – Use Sunscreen Before Going Out
Using well-formulated sunscreens before heading out, will help minimize collagen loss. Our skin is made up of collagen which sits beneath the dermis, and a kind of cushion that squeezes in the pores. The lesser the collagen level the deeper and wider the pores.
So protect your skin’s health, cause in the end you can be doing all the tips and tricks to minimize your pores. But in the end, it doesn’t work just because you let your skin become dry and unhealthy.

How long Do Pores Remain Open After waxing

Importance of Closing Pores After Waxing
Wanting to reduce the size of opened pores after hair removal, comes with many other advantages besides achieving smoother skin. here are some of those important benefits:
1 – Prevents infection
When hair is pulled out during waxing, it creates an open pore that can be susceptible to bacteria and infection.
2 – Reduces inflammation
Waxing can cause inflammation in the skin, which can lead to redness, swelling, and discomfort. Closing the pores can help reduce inflammation and soothe the skin.
3 – Minimizes ingrown hairs
When pores are left open after waxing, there is a greater chance of pores becoming clogged with sebum oils and other impurities. Causing hair to have no passageway to grow and ends up becoming ingrown hairs or/and inflamed.
4 – Improving the appearance of the skin
Closing the pores can help to refine the skin’s texture and reduce the appearance of pores, giving the skin a smoother and more even look.
